Old Boots = New Life

I have this pair of boots that have been through a lot with me. School, rodeos, work, a couple birthdays, boyfriends that have come and gone, new and old friendships, and many, many miles - I wish I knew how many - They've seen lots of dirt, dust, manure, water, hay, sawdust, snow, you name it, I'm sure they've been there, done that.

They used to be really dang cute...

But now they look something like this:

Not cool...
So what's a girl to do when she wears the sole and most of the leather off of her favorite pair of boots??? Burn them!!! Wait...what?

Yeah, I was going to throw them in our fire pit....

Was going to, that is, until I thought "Hey! These boots would make awesome flower holders!!!" They even have holes in them to drain out excess water...
Which is kind of sad. I really put them through a lot in their "working" days...
But I'm glad I found a way where I can still put them to use and keep them around without getting disgusted looks from snooty people. :-)

So I put potting soil in the boots...

Then I planted some really cute little "mystery seeds" that I got from Potting Shed Creations. It's this awesome little gardening store that is in the next town over. They've actually gone big time and make all sorts of stuff that is sold nationally and globally I believe, so it's pretty neat to have them here locally. They make some neat stuff!

I'm not sure how green my thumb is so we'll see if this works out or not. I'll keep ya posted!

P.S. I am going to shamelessly promote my favorite band: The Randy Rogers Band! These guys are amazing!!! Today is the release date of their newest album, which I am currently listening to :-), called Burning the Day. You can get it on iTunes for about $10.00. I pre-ordered mine a long time ago and I am loving it. I knew I would of course...I really love these guys. I saw them live for the first time on August 9th (they're from Texas and don't make it to my neck of the woods too often, so I was super excited!) and they were just as amazing live as they are on their albums!

That's me with Randy Rogers in the background doin' what he does best!
